I have always loved the power that visual symbols have in communicating certain ideas, and when used in visual art it makes for a very literary approach in viewing and understanding. Symbols have been used in all styles from traditional art, surrealism, to street art to convey messages and concepts relating to the paintings theme.
The first two pieces below are separate topics but relate to the theme of life and death. I combined aspects of symbols, composition and colour to create a literary but also ambiguous interpretation. Some specific themes within the topics are self realisation + evolution, duality, and a sense of continuation.
